Foreigner’s Registration and Stay

Registration

 

A person who enters Korea with a short-term visa and obtains

the permission for the change of visa status to a corporate investment (D-8) visa

should immediately apply for a foreigner’s registration to the immigration office,

which has the jurisdiction over a place of sojourn

Registration

 

A person who enters Korea with a long-term visa for staying not less than

91 days should apply within 90 days from the entry date for

registration at the immigration office, which has jurisdiction over a place of sojourn.

Permission for Change of Visa Status

 

If someone who does not obtain a corporate

investment (D-8) visa due to inevitable reasons enters Korea with

a short-term visa or without a visa establishes a foreign-invested company and

will manage the company, h/she should apply for the change of visa status.

Extension of Sojourn Period

 

If a corporate investment (D-8) visa holder intends to stay

in excess of the permitted sojourn period,

he/she should apply for the extension of sojourn period before

his/her period of sojourn expires.

Activities Outside the Scope of Visa Status

 

If someone wants to pursue education at an officially-accredited educational institution

(elementary, middle, high school or university) to an extent that does not compromise the original purpose of the stay, separate permission is not required.

If professionals such as a CEO of a foreign-invested company give lectures at universities, permission for the status of short-term employee(C-4) must be required.
