Obtaining re-entry permits

for registered foreign residents in Korea

The Ministry of Justice recently strengthened the requirements for re-entry into Korea

from high-risk countries for COVID-19 infections.

Starting from June 1, 2020,

foreign residents of Korea need a re-entry permit

before leaving the country.

The permits are issued at local immigration offices or at the airport.

(excluding A-1, A-2, A-3, and F-4 visa holders)

Upon returning to Korea, foreign residents are required to undergo

a medical examination before the past 48 hours,

written in English or Korean,

detailing whether they have any coronavirus symptoms.

The Ministry of Justice stated it is a temporary measure

to help stem coronavirus infections.

A service for re-entry permits will be

offered on its website hikorea.go.kr.
